To maximize their profits, casinos must balance the number of customers they attract with the amount of money they risk losing to fraud and other forms of cheating. Security is therefore a major concern for casinos. Most have numerous cameras and other electronic monitoring devices, and they employ security personnel to patrol the premises. Because of the high amounts of cash that are handled within casinos, both patrons and employees may be tempted to cheat or steal in collusion with each other or independently.
